The Plein AIr and Landscape show is now on view at Art on Main in West Stockbridge, MA.

Hosted by the Guild of Berkshire Artists, this annual exhibit showcases member-artists’ work in the landscape genre.

The Guild has an active program of plein air expeditions throughout the year, and also hosts master painter Chris Morel every year for his 3-day plein air workshop.

For the last couple of years, I have participated in this workshop, which is held at different locations throughout the Berkshires area.  It’s rewarding to watch a pro like Chris work his magic in front of a scene, and I always come away with some useful tips. This kind of experience is unique. There is no substitute or having someone watch you work and helping you refine your technique.

Three of the paintings in the current show came out of this workshop, including a landscape I started outdoors and then subsequently added some of the workshop participants (“Plein Air Workshop”).

Opening Reception: Saturday, October 31, and the show runs through Sunday, November 29.  (Gallery hours: Thursday – Sunday, 1-4 PM)
